Weekly jobs for service users at Bristol Zoo

Bristol ZooPeople paying back for the crimes they had committed are helping to provide animals with safe spaces at two attractions in the South West.

Service users completing Community Payback activity with Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire Community Rehabilitation Company (BGSW CRC) are working with Bristol Zoo Gardens and the Wild Place Project to complete different jobs around the sites.

Groups of around six service users attend weekly to carry out any necessary maintenance, including painting, decorating, fencing and even redesigning animal enclosures.

Joe Allotey, head of maintenance at Bristol Zoological Society, said: “Bristol Zoological Society is very pleased with the work being delivered by those completing the Community Payback activity at both Bristol Zoo Gardens and Wild Place Project. The work is helping to ensure our facilities and animal homes are maintained to the highest of standards.”
